Cavalli: La Calisto
Ensemble Correspondances · Sébastien Daucé
Daucé and Correspondances turn from the French sacred repertoire that defined their early catalogue to Cavalli's Venetian opera of 1651 — Faustini's mythological pastoral with its mortal heroine pulled between Jupiter and Diana.
Calisto is the Correspondances first complete Venetian opera on disc — the ensemble’s identity has been built around French airs and sacred works through the 2010s, so this is a deliberate widening rather than a debut. Sébastien Daucé reads Cavalli with the same clarity of bass line he brings to Charpentier.
